War on Drugs

Despite arresting over 40 million people on drug charges since its inception, the War on drugs could only be termed a failure on all levels, at least based on what most of Society thought were its original goals. Drugs are still rampant, The USA has the highest number of people incarcerated in the world. The most recent year that the US Bureau of Justice Statistics (USBJS) has records for on their website is 2009, according to their data there was:
  • 4,203,967 people on Probation
  • 760,400 people in Jail
  • 1,524,513 people in Prison
  • 819,308 people on Parole
  • 7,225,800 people under correctional supervision Total
That essentially is 743 out of every 100,000 people or just over 3.1% of the population.

  • The Profiteers   ( 2 Articles )
These are the names of the companies and or people who benefit from the "war on drugs". They literally derive profit off of the continued pain and suffering of humantiy, they are not motivated to improve the human condition or the overall quality of life. Their goal is only to make a profit.

They live for, support and seek to perpetuate this war regardless of its cost, both financially, morally and socially. Yes, they would even stick your grandparents in jail and or prison for growing a simple harmless plant.

So what can we do about it? If they are an Elected official and their name is up here. Everyone needs to collectively do whatever they can to make sure they are never re-elected to any public office again, EVER! They are not a friend of humanity, they are at war against it.

This war of theirs has not achieved any of its stated goals or objectives and everyone agree's on this fact. What is has done is undermined your constitutional rights and continues to limit your personal Freedom.

While most people are in fact against it there are a few who are for it. Some are quite vocal and most of those are elected officals, so ask yourself, why it must continue when they generally recite the same message that we know to be false. To give up would be even worse. If that is so then why of the few countries that have actually done so, their worlds have not fallen apart, crime has not risen nor has drug use become rampant as most continue to predict.

While everyone agree's its lost and most everyone agree's it is impossible for it to ever be won, for some reason it continues on year after year.

It costs society tens of billions each year, not including the cost society ultimately pays in terms of citizens who are virtually un-employable or find themselves relegated to low paying jobs because of their record. The direct and indirect costs are staggering.

Yet funding never dries up nor has it ever been diminished, somehow against all logic and reason it increases every year.

Perhaps there is something more going on that we just dont yet see? Who are these unseen Profiteers

In fact there is something people don't see and to date I've never heard this mentioned anywere. I didn't know this before I started researching this subject for what I hope to be a monthly series of articles but perhaps this first two articles will illustrate the point.

Sometimes the best way to understand an event is to ask yourself "who stands to profit from this"
Its easy to ask who's paying the price. In this case society is paying in every way. So we will look at both sides and see just who are some of those who are or have paid the ultimate price. But we will also go back and look at the other side, one I have never heard anyone else actually talk about.

Lets ask what might in fact be the most important question in regards to the war on drugs.

Who are the profiteers in this. Only then can anyone fully understand what is really at stake here and what and or who anyone that thinks we should end the war on drugs, is really going up against.

First some numbers, then feel free to read any of the articles regarding the real victims and their situations. Then read about the profiteers.

In the USA the lowest paying place to be prison guard is in Florence Alabama, the data might be a little old but average wage of a new hire prison guard is around 21,000 dollars. Highest paying location, San Francisco California where the pay is 69,000. Prison guards median wage across the USA as a whole for 2004 was $33,600.

According to research from 2006, prison guards jobs are projected to increase by about 16 % in the next ten years in the U.S.

As a career it has the lowest rate of unemployement at around 2%. If all you care about is making money become a banker though, you are still leaching off of society and produce absolutely nothing of any value but you make even more doing so. I would like to finish with this though, Karma may be slow but it is always thorough. You will get yours one day.
